Ana Sering, Executive Director

I am excited to join TCME as Executive Director. I came to mindfulness practice in my teens by way of meditation, Buddhism, and yoga. I practice both mindfulness and loving kindness meditation and have been a member of the Triratna Buddhist Order since 2001. My mindfulness practice is also influenced by the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh; it was his book The Miracle of Mindfulness that showed me how mindfulness can be practiced in every moment, in every activity, and not just on the meditation cushion.  My yoga practice is influenced by the Iyengar and Ashtangha traditions; I blend elements of each tradition to develop an embodied awareness that naturally augments a meditation practice.

After teaching middle and high school science for over a decade, I made a career change to support non-profit organizations that aim to bring mindfulness practices to a wider audience. A lot goes on behind the scenes to deliver meditation and mindfulness programs! Paying attention to the various logistical details and communicating kindly while under pressure, is both a practice of and an expression of mindfulness. Most recently I was the Executive Director of Aryaloka Buddhist Center in Newmarket, NH, where I coordinated an extensive and varied program of classes and retreats.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Master of Arts in Teaching and am also a 200-hour RYT. I live in New Hampshire, USA with my two children and cat, where I enjoy sitting by the river in my back yard, mindfully drinking a cup of coffee.
