International Mindful Eating Day ~ January 28, 2016

Welcome to the second hour of Mindful Eating Day. In 2016, The Center for Mindful Eating (TCME) will celebrate our 10th year Anniversary.  Founded in 2006, TCME has grown to help over 100,000 people each year explore, practice and deepen their understanding of mindful eating. We want to share with you two more “fun” facts about TCME.

All board members volunteer their time. Again, TCME does not pay individuals to write or present for this organization. The passion and generosity of writers, presenters and volunteers is how TCME has survived.

TCME is funded by membership and donations. (That is our way of saying, without your support, we can’t exist. If you are not a member - please join. If you are not able to join, consider making a small donation.)

In this next hour we'll be watching video contributions by Charlotte Thaarup-Owen and Jean Kristeller.

Dear Body

By Charlotte Thaarup-Owen

Charlotte submitted this brief, evidence based review of the benefits of mindful eating. "This presentation is about coming back to basics, coming back to our intimate connection with the body.  The consistent feedback I get is that  using the term 'dear body' is one of the most powerful and useful ways to change the relationship with food, the body and weight." Mindfulness Based - Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT)

By Jean Kristeller

Jean Kristeller submitted this in depth evidence based review of the benefits of mindful eating. "Mindful eating brings the power of mindfulness to helping people bring balance back into their relationship with eating and food, to reconnecting with the wisdom of their bodies and mind, and to bringing joy, instead of struggle, to the experience of nurturing themselves. Mindfulness approaches to treating overeating and obesity are increasingly being investigated, and research evidence suggests offer substantial promise." Learn more about Jean and her work by visiting: www.mb-eat.com
